luminescence enhancement in eu(iii)-doped tellurite glass embedded silver nanoparticles
Authors
abstract
introduction of the metallic nanoparticles (nps) in the bulk glass received a large interest due to their versatile applications. the effect of silver nps on optical properties of the eu3+-doped zinc tellurite glasses is presented for the first time. glass samples are prepared by melt-quenching technique. the surface plasmon absorption bands of silver nps are recorded in the visible region. the enhancements in the order of 2.2-2.4 times are observed in the luminescence of the eu3+ ions by introduction of silver nps up to 1 mol% and are attributed to contribution of the nps with average size of about 8 nm. in addition, energy transfer from surface of the metal to the rare earth ion is discussed as the second channel for the enhancement. this report highlights the excellent performance of tellurite glasses for applications such as leds, color displays and nanophotonics.

full textOn second harmonic generation and multiphoton-absorption induced luminescence from laser-reshaped silver nanoparticles embedded in glass.
Spherical silver nanoparticles (NPs) of 30 nm diameter embedded in soda-lime glass were uniformly reshaped (elongated) after irradiation by a linearly polarised 250 fs pulsed laser operating within the NPs' surface plasmon resonance band. We observed second harmonic generation (SHG) and multiphoton-absorption-induced luminescence (MAIL) in the embedded laser-reshaped NPs upon picosecond (10 ps)...
full textOptical Properties of Ho3+ Doped in Tellurite Glass
We visit the standard procedure for analyzing the optical spectrum of Ho doped tellurite glass has been studied. The glass was formed using a composition 79% Te O2 + 20% Li2 CO2 + 1% Ho O2. I density and refractive index were measured and used to calculate various physical properties such as, rare earth concentration, mean atomic volume, electric polarization, ionic radius, molar refractivity, ...

The enthusiasm for research on lanthanide-doped upconversion nanoparticles is driven by both a fundamental interest in the optical properties of lanthanides embedded in different host lattices and their promise for broad applications ranging from biological imaging to photodynamic therapy. Despite the considerable progress made in the past decade, the field of upconversion nanoparticles has bee...
full textLuminescence Properties of Oxyfluoride Glass and Glass Ceramic Doped with Y3 + Ions
Oxyfluoride glass ceramics containing CaF2nano-crystals doped with Y3+ ions were prepared by one-step crystallization of SiO2- Al2O3- CaO- CaF2 glasses at different temperatures. X- ray diffraction (XRD) results have revealed that CaF2 was the only precipitated crystalline phase in glass ceramic samples. According to the XRD results, a glass ceramic was selected as the best sample in order to ...
